Get up, Stand up…

Today is November 8th, and in the USA we are having our long awaited, much anticipated, and thoroughly dreaded election day. This years election has highlighted a deep divide in our country and sparked dangerous misogynistic and racist rhetoric that many of us incorrectly thought had faded away into the history books. My hope is that we elect the right candidate and can finally address these issues which have not faded away, but effect millions of United States citizens every day.

Get out and vote! One of the candidates wont win, but that doesn’t mean that the people who voted for them don’t have legitimate concerns.  I think it is really important for us to remember this isn’t about two people, it is about social, economic, and educational issues that effect us all.

Let’s be honest… These problems didn’t begin with Hillary and Donald, and they wont end when one of them is elected.  Most of us can’t actually afford to leave the country, and I’m not so sure that isn’t the cowardly way out anyways. Politicians don’t run this country the people do, and it’s time that we remember that. At the end of this election regardless of the outcome, we are all still going to be here together, so perhaps we should all try coming together instead of fighting each other.  Let’s find some stuff we can agree on, let’s remember we are all in this together, and at the end of the day, WE are responsible for this country we live in.
